Type: Retreat. Duration: 5 days, 4 nights (4-day version possible). Group: 2 to 8 women. Start: Marrakesh Menara Airport. Price: On request.

Five days for women in a small group in Marrakesh: yoga every morning, a hammam, cooking in a riad and a sunset in the Agafay desert.

## Highlights

- Yoga every morning on the roof terrace of the riad, before it gets hot
- A traditional hammam with gommage and massage
- A cooking workshop with a local cook, followed by a shared meal
- Sunset and dinner in the Agafay desert, with the option of spending the night in a tent
- One afternoon completely free, with tips from Soukayna in case you do want to do something
- Women only, small group

The days of this retreat have a fixed rhythm. Every morning there is yoga before it gets hot, then you do something in or around [Marrakesh](/en/destinations/marrakesh), and at the end of the day there is quiet on the roof terrace of the riad. So it is not a retreat where you sit in silence for five days. Soukayna arranges the transport and comes along when you go into the city. The group is small and women only.

## The program

You arrive on day one and are picked up at the airport. The riad is in the medina, with a courtyard and a roof terrace where the yoga classes take place. The first evening is quiet: getting to know each other, tea, and a short walk to Jemaa el-Fna if you feel like it.

The following days start at half past seven with yoga. The teacher works with the group as it is; you don't need experience. After breakfast there is one activity each day. On day two that is the medina with Soukayna, on day three a [cooking workshop](/en/trips/cooking-workshop-marrakesh) and the hammam, on day four the [Agafay desert](/en/destinations/agafay). There you watch the sun set behind the Atlas Mountains and eat by the fire. If you like, you stay the night in a tent and drive back the next morning.

The afternoons are partly free. Soukayna gives tips for things you can do on your own, such as Jardin Majorelle or a roof terrace with a view. Doing nothing is fine too.

## The riad and the group

The riad has a courtyard with a fountain, a roof terrace for the yoga and rooms for one or two people. Breakfast is served every morning after class: bread, msemen, honey, fruit and coffee. The group has at most eight women. That is small enough to get to know everyone and large enough to go your own way now and then. Soukayna is there for everything that happens outside the riad; in the riad itself there is always someone from the house.

## Who it's for

For women who want to get away from the daily rush for a few days and are not looking for a program full of obligations. If you are traveling alone, it is nice to be part of a small group. Friends who want to do more together than a city break will feel at home here too. If yoga isn't your thing, look at the [hammam and wellness day](/en/trips/hammam-and-wellness-day) as a separate activity.

## Good to know

The riad is in the medina. So count on narrow streets, the sounds of the city and stairs to the roof; it is not a resort. Evenings in the desert can be chilly. In spring and fall a warm sweater or a scarf is enough. What else to bring is on our [packing list](/en/practical/packing-list).

We plan fixed dates a few times a year. If you want to come with your own group of friends, we put together a program on your dates. Ask about it through the [contact page](/en/contact).

## Program step by step

- **Day 1: arrival in Marrakesh** Soukayna picks you up at the airport and takes you to the riad. You meet the group on the roof terrace over tea, and the first evening is quiet. If you like, you can walk to Jemaa el-Fna with Soukayna.
- **Day 2: yoga and the medina** Morning yoga on the roof. After breakfast you take an easy walk through the medina with Soukayna: Ben Youssef, the souks and a lunch spot she picks. The afternoon is free, or you can go to the hammam early if you can't wait.
- **Day 3: yoga, cooking and hammam** Morning yoga. Then you shop at the market and take a cooking workshop with a local cook. You eat what you made together. In the late afternoon you go to the hammam, with gommage and massage.
- **Day 4: yoga and the Agafay desert** Morning yoga and a free morning. Around three we drive to the Agafay desert, about 45 minutes. There you take a walk or a camel ride, watch the sun go down and eat by the fire. Then you go back to the riad, or you spend the night in a tent (optional).
- **Day 5: last yoga class and departure** A last class on the roof, a big breakfast and time to buy a few more things. Soukayna takes you to the airport.

## Frequently asked questions

**Do I need yoga experience?**

No. The teacher adapts the classes to the group. It is about a calm start to the day; you don't have to perform.

**Can I come on my own?**

Yes. You have your own room or share with someone from the group, whichever you choose. A private room comes with a surcharge.

**When is the best time of year?**

March through May and October through November. Days are pleasant then and evenings in the desert are not too cold. In summer it is too hot for this program.

**What if the group doesn't fill up?**

The program goes ahead from two participants. We let you know well in advance whether the date is final.
